An author who resided at Studios DAR Sutton publishes a children's book
In July 2018, children's author and poet Jeanne Painchaud was awarded a two-week residency at D'Arts et de rêves to work on her third children's album. In May of this year, the project has come to fruition and is now in bookstores: Mon été haïku, illustrated by Chloloula, published by Éditions Druide.
Written for children but as good a read for adults, the book celebrates haikus, little Japanese poems that capture the poetry of the moment, through a story with engaging characters, numerous haikus, and a host of ideas for writing and presenting such little poems. After more than 20 years of practice, Jeanne has become a specialist in the genre. She has given hundreds of haiku workshops to a wide variety of audiences. Since 1997, she has also published five collections of haiku for adults.
The artists who won the scholarship competition
The June 2021 newsletter announced the "NEW" competition, consisting of a three (3) week residency (at no cost) at Sutton DAR Studios and a $1,500 scholarship.
Three artists were chosen by an independent jury of professional artists from each of the three disciplines we represent:
- Circus arts: The Chita project
- Literary arts: Pénélope Mallard
- Visual arts: Yannick Guégen
An article in Le Tour gives a brief overview of the work of these artists. Find out more about them.
